Terms of Use
Effective date: October 7, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Egregor (the "App", available on iPhone) and the website digitalsignatureapp.com (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Alvin Jacobs, an individual based in Buenos Aires, Argentina ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (https://www.digitalsignatureapp.com/privacy-policy). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Â
1. What the App Does
The App lets you digitally sign any file on your iPhone and lets anyone check whether a given username signed a given file. When you sign, the App calculates the file's SHA-256 fingerprint on your device, signs that fingerprint with a key stored in your iPhone's secure hardware, and sends only the fingerprint and the signature to our server. Your file is never uploaded. A valid signature shows that the file has not changed since it was signed and that it was signed with a device key registered to that username.

2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us promptly at info@digitalsignatureapp.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Usernames must not impersonate another person or organization or infringe anyone's rights. We may reclaim or change a username that breaks these rules.

3. What a Signature Does and Does Not Prove
On the free plan, a signature shows that the holder of a given account signed a file. It does not prove who that person is in real life: anyone can create an account with any available username.
On a paid plan, signatures made from an identity-verified device while your subscription is active are linked to the legal name verified for that device. Anyone checking a signature sees the verification result and decides for themselves how much to rely on it.

4. Legal Status of Signatures
Whether a signature made with the App is legally valid depends on the applicable law, the type of document and the agreement of the parties involved.
- In Argentina, we are not a licensed certifier under Law No. 25,506, so signatures made with the App are electronic signatures ("firma electrónica"), not digital signatures ("firma digital").
- In the United States, electronic signatures are generally recognized under the federal ESIGN Act and state laws based on UETA, with certain exceptions.
- In the European Union, signatures made with the App are not qualified electronic signatures under the eIDAS Regulation.
We do not guarantee that any person, court or authority will accept a signature made with the App. For important documents, seek legal advice.

5. Your Signing Keys and Devices
Each signing key is created inside your iPhone's secure hardware and is tied to one account on one device. Keys cannot be exported, backed up or recovered. Face ID or Touch ID is required for every signature, and changing your enrolled Face ID or Touch ID may permanently disable the key. If a device is lost, reset or its key is disabled, you must register the device again; signatures already made remain verifiable.
Anyone who can unlock your iPhone with the biometrics enrolled on it can sign in your name. Keep your device and its biometric settings secure.

6. Identity Verification
Identity verification is optional and requires a paid plan. It is performed by Stripe Identity and is also subject to Stripe's terms and privacy policy. Each device must be verified separately, up to the number of verified devices included in your plan (currently 5 for Pro).
You may only verify your own identity, using a genuine, valid government ID that belongs to you. You can release a device's verification at any time from the Profile screen; this frees a slot in your plan and stops new certificates for that device until it is verified again. We do not guarantee that a verification attempt will succeed.

7. Subscriptions and Payment
Paid plans are auto-renewable subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store and charged to your Apple ID. The price is shown in the App before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting your account or the App does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue refunds ourselves. If the price changes, Apple will notify you in advance, and you may cancel before the new price applies.

8. Signature Certificates
A certificate is a PDF that summarizes a signature and explains how to verify it independently. A certificate is available only for a signature made while your subscription was active and from an identity-verified device. This is recorded permanently at the moment of signing, so subscribing or verifying later does not make earlier signatures eligible. Your subscription must also be active, and the device still verified, when the certificate is requested.
If Apple reports a refund, chargeback or revocation of your subscription, all signatures on your account permanently lose certificate eligibility. Certificates you have already downloaded remain independently verifiable, even if the Service ends.

9. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. Deletion is permanent: we will no longer confirm your signatures, and your username may later become available to others. Certificates already downloaded are not affected.
10. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent who signed a document.
- Use the Service for fraud, forgery or any other unlawful purpose.
- Submit another person's ID, or a fake or altered document, during identity verification.
- Access, or try to access, other users' accounts, keys or data, or interfere with the security of the Service.
- Send automated or excessive requests, or collect information about other users.
- Reverse engineer the App, except where the law expressly allows it.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.

11. Availability and Changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue features, including identity verification and certificates. If we shut down the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice where possible.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by law, including under Argentine Consumer Protection Law No. 24,240.

13. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them.

14. Apple-Specific Terms
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we alone are responsible for the App and its content. Your license to use the App is limited to Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and privacy claims, and claims that the App infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of the City of Buenos Aires. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim in the courts of your place of residence.

16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and announce significant changes in the App. If you continue to use the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

17. Developer API Terms
Â
These terms apply when you create or use an API key for the Egregor Verification API (the "API"). They add to the rest of these Terms of Use. If they conflict, this section prevails for your use of the API. By creating an API key you confirm that you accept them, on your own behalf or on behalf of the organization you represent, and that you have the authority to do so. API Terms version: 2026-10-26.
Â
17.1 What the API does
The API answers one question: whether a given Egregor user signed a given file, identified by its SHA-256 hash, and when. It returns only whether the signature is valid and the time it was registered. It does not return names, identity data, emails, devices or any other personal information, and it does not receive your files.
Â
17.2 Your API keys
You must give a valid email address that you control when you create a key. Each key is personal to you or your organization. Keep it secret: use it only from your own servers, never in a web page, a browser script or an app distributed to others, and never share, sell or publish it. You are responsible for all use of your keys. If a key is exposed, revoke it immediately and create a new one. Do not create several keys or accounts to get around quotas or limits.
Â
17.3 Quotas and limits
The free plan currently includes 10,000 verifications per key per calendar month (UTC), up to 3 active keys per email address and up to 5 new keys per day from one network. We may set rate limits to protect the Service. We may introduce paid plans; any paid plan will be offered under its own pricing, and we will not charge you without your agreement. We will give at least 30 days' notice, by email to the address linked to your key, before reducing the free quota.
Â
17.4 Acceptable use of the API
You may use the API to check signatures on files you have a legitimate reason to verify. You must not:
(a) use the API to find out whether usernames exist, to discover who signed a file, or to collect or build lists of users, signatures or signing activity;
(b) use the API, or its results, to track, profile, harass or discriminate against any person;
(c) try to get around authentication, quotas or rate limits, test the API's security or load without our written permission, or interfere with the Service;
(d) resell or give third parties direct access to the API, or offer a service that is essentially a copy of it, without our written agreement;
(e) use the API in breach of any applicable law, including data protection, consumer and electronic signature laws.
Â
17.5 How to present results
A valid result means that the file's fingerprint was signed by a key registered to that Egregor account. As explained in Section 3, it does not by itself prove the legal identity of the person behind the account, the signer's intent, or that a document is legally binding. You must not present a result as more than that, and you remain responsible for the decisions you make using it. You may say that a signature was "verified with Egregor", but you may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse, guarantee or partner with you without our written permission.
Â
17.6 Your users and data
If you use the API in a product or service for others, you are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to it, including informing your own users about how you process their data. When you create a key we store your email address, the key's label, a hash of the key secret, the date you accepted these terms and the number of calls you make. We use the data in API requests only to answer them and to secure and meter the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Â
17.7 Suspension and revocation
You can revoke your key at any time. We may suspend or revoke a key, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of these terms, is exposed or compromised, or puts the Service or its users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why by email.
Â
17.8 Changes to the API and these terms
The API is versioned. Within a version, we may add response fields but will not remove or rename existing ones; a breaking change will be released as a new version with notice. We may update these API terms; for material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address linked to your key. Continuing to use the API after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
Â
17.9 No warranty and limitation of liability
The API is provided "as is" and "as available", without any service-level commitment. Sections 12 (Disclaimer of Warranties) and 13 (Limitation of Liability) apply to the API in full.
